So the baby.
My last weekly post, which wasn't even weekly, was about 9 weeks ago. I went to the doctors a few days after that post. I don't remember anything special about that appointment so it must have gone well :) Besides the stuff mentioned in my previous post (iron supplements and antibiotics), my appointments have been very uneventful.
That next week I went to a breast feeding class the that hospital offered. It offered some good information but from everything that I gather, its kind of a learn on the job type of thing. They did give me a book that I have since read which will be good to reference when the time gets here.
Somewhere in there I feel and busted my ass. It was raining out and when I stepped on to our porch, my feet went out from under me and then I was on the ground. I was in SO much pain. The baby was still moving around so I didn't go to the hospital. The next morning when I work up though, good lord. I couldn't walk. It was ridiculous. Ashley took me to the doctor to get checked out. I was fine, but pulled some mussels. The doc told me to take it easy for a few days. Also part of the fun was that he did an internal exam to make sure everything was still intact up there. HOLY SHIT that hurt. Not only was I already in pain, but everything was where its supposed to be...nice and high.
At my 36 week appointment, they tested me for group b strep. I have it. Its not that big of a deal, just antibiotics when I give birth. Me and my antibiotics...its gotta be messing with my body! Also at that appointment I asked the doctor if he could tell about how big the baby is. He said that its hard to tell cause each person is different so what the measurement is for a person that is 5 ft means something different then that same measurement for a person that is 5 ft 10. So he thought we should do another ultrasound would be good.
So on week 37, I got to see my baby again :) Bliss and Jamie came with me. Jamie had never seen an ultrasound before so I invited her along. The baby was much more squished this time so it wasn't as cool as my 20 week one, but you could still tell some parts. It was funny watching them while the tech was taking the measurements and moving around fast. They would smile, then look confused, then tilt their heads, then smile again. Too funny watching them try to figure out what they were seeing. Well, she told me that the baby was about 8 lbs 7 oz, give or take a pound. WHAT?! It was measuring at 39/40 weeks and I was only 37. Not cool baby j. AND the baby will gain another 1/2-1 lb per week. The doctor said it might be best to do an induction since the baby was so big already. The way he was talking, I thought he was thinking the next week, but nope. I got scheduled for Sept 1st. A whole 3 days before my due date. That means that the baby will weigh between 8 lb 7 oz if she measured it big and it only gained half a pound a week, or 11 lb 7 oz if she measured him small and it gained 1 pound per week. God I hope its closer to the 8 lb 7 oz.
So I'm going in Tuesday night to start the cervix softener (cause still nothing has happened in there) then they will start the pitocin on Wednesday morning. I'll have a baby by Wednesday night :)
Some other tidbits of info:
I have gained right at 40 lbs.
I waddle everywhere
My feet are swollen and I only wear flip flops
My nose is starting to get wide
I can't sleep more than 1.5 hrs without waking up to roll over/go pee.
I have so many stretch marks on my belly it looks like someone painted flames on it
Even with all the crappy things listed above, I have loved being pregnant. I love feeling my baby move around inside me. I love messing with the parts it pushes up against me making weird bumps on my belly. I'm really going to miss it. But I can't wait to have my baby in my arms :)
Here are a few photos that Jamie took for us the other day
