This weekend was the first weekend that I really got my two days off in a row since I was about to start class when my schedule change went in to effect. I had big plans and was very excited. All that was smashed when we woke up Friday morning to an 85 degree house.
Our AC had died.
Bliss had to go to work and since I don't know anything about AC's, I thought maybe it had froze over (I've heard people say this before but I'm not completely sure what it means) so I turned it off and left for the day. It was a beautiful day with the heat index at just over 100. Perfect day for no AC. I figured Bliss could fix it when he got home.
Now, mind you, Friday was also Bliss' birthday. I needed to go get the stuff to make his birthday dinner and cake, clean up the house because his mom is coming up next weekend and its nasty, and get some stuff done for the wedding. Instead, I went out to lunch with some friends. We went to a new bbq place here called Sticky Fingers. Very yummy. Then I called Ashley to see if I could make the cake at her house. Our oven was cheap so it heats up the whole house when you turn it on and my house was already hot enough. Anyway, Bliss got home and discovered he couldn't fix it and it would cost over $100 per hour to have someone come out and look at it. Needless to say, I did not make him his special birthday dinner. We went to Zaxby's, a little better than fast food chicken place. Andrew and Ashley had gone to their parents for the night so we went and stayed at their house. They are way too good to us.
Saturday was a little more fun. We got up and went car shopping. We traded in Bliss' Mazda and got me a new to me 2002 Ford Escape XLT. Very cute and fun to drive. Since its an SUV, I'm driving it back and forth to work since I have 8 mile commute and Bliss is going to be driver the Lancer. We dropped our payment by about $200 and got a good chunk of change back which we thought would be great since our house was now a sauna.

We stayed with Andrew and Ashley again Sat night. Lucky for us, Ashley's father has an AC business in Atlanta. Obviously he wasn't going to send anyone down to us, but he did have some guys working about 100 miles south of us so when they came though on Sunday, they stopped by and looked at the AC unit. We knew that they wouldn't be able to fix it, but they could tell us what was wrong so we wouldn't get screwed by whoever we got to fix it. They had FANTASTIC news! It was just a small part. Bliss called around and found a guy that had the part. Bliss drove over to the guys house, paid the guy 40 bucks for the thing, came home and fixed it!! I knew I was marrying him for some reason!! :) We are back at our house tonight with the AC blowing nice and hard.
What a weekend. Didn't even really feel like we had one. Now, my house is still a mess and still needs to be cleaned by this weekend. But at least I have AC! Want to come help clean? ;)
Hope everyone's weekend was less eventful then mine!
