The baby

So the baby.

My last weekly post, which wasn't even weekly, was about 9 weeks ago.  I went to the doctors a few days after that post.  I don't remember anything special about that appointment so it must have gone well :)  Besides the stuff mentioned in my previous post (iron supplements and antibiotics), my appointments have been very uneventful.

That next week I went to a breast feeding class the that hospital offered.  It offered some good information but from everything that I gather, its kind of a learn on the job type of thing.  They did give me a book that I have since read which will be good to reference when the time gets here.

Somewhere in there I feel and busted my ass.  It was raining out and when I stepped on to our porch, my feet went out from under me and then I was on the ground.  I was in SO much pain.  The baby was still moving around so I didn't go to the hospital.  The next morning when I work up though, good lord.  I couldn't walk.  It was ridiculous.  Ashley took me to the doctor to get checked out.  I was fine, but pulled some mussels.  The doc told me to take it easy for a few days.  Also part of the fun was that he did an internal exam to make sure everything was still intact up there.  HOLY SHIT that hurt.  Not only was I already in pain, but everything was where its supposed to be...nice and high.

At my 36 week appointment, they tested me for group b strep.  I have it.  Its not that big of a deal, just antibiotics when I give birth.  Me and my antibiotics...its gotta be messing with my body!  Also at that appointment I asked the doctor if he could tell about how big the baby is.  He said that its hard to tell cause each person is different so what the measurement is for a person that is 5 ft means something different then that same measurement for a person that is 5 ft 10.  So he thought we should do another ultrasound would be good.

So on week 37, I got to see my baby again :)  Bliss and Jamie came with me.  Jamie had never seen an ultrasound before so I invited her along.  The baby was much more squished this time so it wasn't as cool as my 20 week one, but you could still tell some parts.  It was funny watching them while the tech was taking the measurements and moving around fast.  They would smile, then look confused, then tilt their heads, then smile again.  Too funny watching them try to figure out what they were seeing.  Well, she told me that the baby was about 8 lbs 7 oz, give or take a pound. WHAT?! It was measuring at 39/40 weeks and I was only 37.  Not cool baby j.  AND the baby will gain another 1/2-1 lb per week.  The doctor said it might be best to do an induction since the baby was so big already.  The way he was talking, I thought he was thinking the next week, but nope.  I got scheduled for Sept 1st.  A whole 3 days before my due date.  That means that the baby will weigh between 8 lb 7 oz if she measured it big and it only gained half a pound a week, or 11 lb 7 oz if she measured him small and it gained 1 pound per week.  God I hope its closer to the 8 lb 7 oz.

So I'm going in Tuesday night to start the cervix softener (cause still nothing has happened in there) then they will start the pitocin on Wednesday morning.  I'll have a baby by Wednesday night :)

Some other tidbits of info:
I have gained right at 40 lbs.
I waddle everywhere
My feet are swollen and I only wear flip flops
My nose is starting to get wide
I can't sleep more than 1.5 hrs without waking up to roll over/go pee.
I have so many stretch marks on my belly it looks like someone painted flames on it

Even with all the crappy things listed above, I have loved being pregnant.  I love feeling my baby move around inside me.  I love messing with the parts it pushes up against me making weird bumps on my belly.  I'm really going to miss it.  But I can't wait to have my baby in my arms :)

Here are a few photos that Jamie took for us the other day
hes so gangsta...makes me laugh :)

All the toys

We have the nursery finished!!  I underestimated how amazing my husband is and really expected to be doing a lot of the work or pestering him about doing it.  I was quickly proven wrong.  He did so much and made it look so great!  He painted the room and the mural, he built the shelf, repainted the dresser and put now hardware on it AND put the crib together.  He also has put together the swing, pack and play, stroller, highchair...the list goes on.  I love the way it all turned out :)
my milking chair
the fabric for the swing and carseat

We have had so many cardboard boxes, we could open a moving company!  Every week we put a load out with the trash.  Its crazy!

The weekend of my Georgia shower, Mom, Vicki and I went to the day care need my work and signed baby Jourdan up for that.  We got to visit the infant room and all the babies were so cute :)  One of the teachers there said that she didn't want my baby unless it was girl because there was only one other girl in the room!  Poor thing, being surrounded by boys all the time!  They were waiving the enrollment fee and were only charging $25 to hold the spot till I go back to work...that and my discount and they are open till 7:00 when most are open till 6 - you can't beat it!  Not that I want to go back to work...ever...but I'm very happy with the daycare and I hope that helps me cope!

So it seems that we have everything that we'll need.  If there is something that we need, I'm sure someone will be quick to tell us :)  Just waiting on the baby now!!

Seriously?!

I can't believe that I haven't posted anything since 30 weeks!!  I'm 38 weeks now and about to pop.  Lots has happened in the past 8 weeks.  Since its been so long, I'm going to split this up in to a few posts.  Don't want you getting board :)

Let me see what I can remember...

I'll start with my showers!

Over the 4th of July we went down to Louisiana for the long weekend and my first baby shower.  Bliss' cousin and aunt, Erin and Stephanie, hosted it for me.  It was great!  Everyone was so generous!!  Its a good thing we took the truck down because there would be no way for us to get everything back with out it.

Vicki and Me with all the yummy food!
my super cute cake
gifts gifts and more gifts!!

We ate some sea food like always but it was little bittersweet with the oil spill.  The prices for all the seafood had gone up and the place that we went to, didn't have any oysters on the menu.  One thing kinda cool, Bliss' uncle Robert used to work on the oil rigs as a cook but since all drilling was suspended, he's been working with the clean up crews.  I'm not sure if he still is or not, but for awhile, he was working on the vessel that had the fancy thing Kevin Costner came up with.

Also, we made our last trip to the casino before the baby gets here.  I don't think people will look to kindly on my taking an infant in :)  We went on the 4th so we watched fireworks from the top deck of the parking garage.  Since we were right on the coast, we could see a few different cities doing their shows.  There were tons of people on the beach with bonfires and setting off their own fire works.  It was really cool.

I had another shower in Macon thrown by my friends here - Jamie, Jen, Ashley & Rebecca.  My mom and Bliss' mom both came up for it, also my friend Julie that lives in FL.  Such long tips but it was great to have them here!  We had a great time at that one too.  Again, I got a ton of stuff.  My friends love me!  This time it was at our house so I didn't have to carry everything home.  And yes, I wore the same dress to both showers.

isn't he so cute? :)
lots of belly!!

The day after, Vicki took us out shopping for the some of the stuff that we still needed.  That as well as an order to Target.com and we had almost everything.  That was also Bliss' birthday so he got some gifts too :)

I think I'll end it here for now.  More coming soon!!

Week 29 & 30

Well I missed some weeks again.  I'm not very good at this whole weekly update thing.

Anyway, my baby is growing  and growing.  Sometimes it feels like it doesn't have enough room anymore.  Poor baby just wants to stretch!  I know there's enough room, but the baby will push one part of its body up against my and just push, push, push.  It also likes to do big kicks.  If I'm resting anything on my belly (arms, book, computer, phone, etc) the baby kicks at it making it move all over.  Seeing my belly move still freaks Bliss out :)  According to thebump.com, the baby is now the size of a squash although it doesn't say what kind of squash.  Its about 16 inches long and 3 lbs.  Chunking right up!

I'm still feeling pretty good.  At the end of the day my hips and back hurt.  I think a lot of that is because I have to sit all day for work.  I have to go to the bathroom ALL the time.  The baby likes to hang out really low...sometimes that causing problems while walking.  Speaking of walking....I hate to say it, but a lot of the time its more of a waddle now.

Two Fridays ago I had an appointment.  I had to do my glucose test.  I'm not going to say that it was good...not by any means, but it wasn't as bad and it was built up to be.  I was told I have low iron so I need to start taking a supplement for that.  Also, I had another infection so I have to take antibiotics for the rest of my pregnancy.  Oh well...

This past weekend we went to a wedding so I thought I would take my belly pic while I was all dressed up.

Look at all that!

Week 28

This past weekend we started cleaning out the baby's room.  It's been the throw room for so long, I'm finding all kinds of crazy stuff in there.  I have a hard time getting rid of stuff that used to have meaning to me.  I find it 10-15 years later and its nothing now, but I've kept it this long so why should I get rid of it?  Anyway, I did.  Well, most of it.  Most of the stuff in the room has a place to go to now (mostly Goodwill), its just getting it all in to the car and getting it there.

I can't believe all the crap we still have left to do and have been putting off and putting off and now here we are, 12 more weeks to go.  shit.  Although, we did get the crib in!!  I can't wait to put it together!!!  One thing checked off the list, 50,000,000,000,000 more to go!

On a more fun note, the baby has been moving a ton!  All kinds of different types of movements.  Poking me in places that I don't really like.  The other night I felt an actual poke.  It wasn't like the normal kids or rubs that I usually get, it was a poke.  It felt like Bliss poking me.  Now I know the baby's fingers aren't anywhere near the size of Bliss' but thats what it felt like.  Maybe an elbow or something.

So when I sleep, I wear as little as possible.  Always have.  Before I liked being cuddled up under the blankets no matter what time of year.  Now, I barely put a sheet on.  I tell you this because I learned an important lesson on Friday night, I can't sleep in a 90+ degree house almost 7 months prego, naked or not.  I ran home after work to grab some socks to go bowling with some friends.  When I walked in, it was 92 degrees inside.  I turned off the ac, grabbed my socks, and ran back out the door.  I was hoping that since its been so freakin hot (high 90's with a heat index of 105-110) that the unit was working so hard it froze.  Bliss had left to go out of town for a guys weekend so I called him on my way to the bowling alley.  He told me a few things to check from when the ac broke 2 years ago.  I called Mom and she told me some other things to look for.  I also called my friend Ashley to see if needed, could I stay at her house that night.  Of course being the awesome friend that she is, it was :)  Anyway, when about 20 min before I got home, Ashley texted me saying she was going to bed.  I got home and turned on the ac.  The air felt cooler so I thought I would be ok.  I texted Ashley that I wouldn't need her b&b services.  I was wrong.  I went to bed about 12:30, woke up at 1:30 and realized that the air was cooler because it was moving, not and cooler in temp.  I turned the unit back off and tried to fall back asleep.  I woke up again at 2:30 hot as hell.  I thought about my options and ended up blowing up our air mattress in the kitchen hoping that the small unit we have in the laundry room would cool me some.  It was a few degrees cooler, but there was no air movement from a fan and the dogs kept wining because of the big mattress that they were scared of.  I was awake till 4:30 trying to cool myself off.  I then woke up at 8:30 and knew there would be no going back to sleep.

Ashley called me and invited me to hang at her house in the ac.  It was a godsend.  We didn't do much, but it was so nice to not be so hot.  I ended up staying there Saturday night then when Bliss got home on Sunday, we got a hotel room.  The hotel was one of the nicer in town so it was like a little get away for us!  This morning Bliss called to some heating/cooling companies and had a guy come out this afternoon.  It didn't set us back too much to get it fixed but he did advise that we start saving out pennies.  Just what we need, another thing to save our pennies for.

The house is still cooling off but it is SO much better!!

Needless to say, I didn't get the baby's room finished and I didn't get anything done around the house that I wanted/needed to do.  BUT I didn't die from heat stroke either :)

Week 27

There really isn't all that much going on that new.  For the most part I feel great.  The baby likes to sit **really** low so it makes it hurt to walk for too long.  Also makes me have to pee 50,000,000,000 times a day.

I ordered the crib and can't wait for it to get here!  The room is still full of crap so I'm not sure why I'm so excited as there isn't any place to set it up, but I am anyway :)

I've been having some really strange dreams about the baby and other things.  One the other night was that if I sucked my belly in just right, you could see the outline of the baby.  In real life, that would be disturbing as hell, but it was cool in my dream :)  Also, poor Bliss, hes been doing all kinds of weird stuff in my dreams.

Off to bed to see what my mind can come up with tonight!

Week 25 & 26

So I suck again and am late on my overdue entry :(

During week 25, I was laying in bed watching my belly move around.  I called Bliss in but by the time, the baby had stopped moving on its own.  So I poked it...two times right in the side.  What do you know, that baby poked back two times :)  Bliss did not find it as cool as I did.  He was a little freaked out and jumped a little when the baby poked back.  Too funny.

The baby is moving ALL the time now.  I love it!  I like to try to figure out what its doing or what parts or poking me.  Also, when I'm pissed off at work, its my own little escape.  I sit there and while my customers are bitching at me, I laugh at what my baby is doing.  I'm sure if my customers knew that they would be even more pissed, but it keeps me sane.  And yes you are still at fault, Mr. Customer, bitch all you want.

Here is the fabric that we picked.  I *love* it!

I'm going to make curtains and a bed skirt with it.  Depending on if I have any left over, I might make some other things.  The yellow that's painted on the walls now doesn't look good so we need to paint again.  Its looking like it will be green but maybe blue.  Not sure just yet.

This past weekend we went down to my moms house.  It was a good time.  I laid in the pool and sunned my belly.  The baby didn't move much for Mom, but maybe next time.  We brought home a desk that used to be my dad's when he was a kid, then it was mine, and now it will belong the newest member of the tribe :)  I don't get much as far as family stuff since Christina got most of it when Mom moved down and where she had all the kids first.  I'm very happy about my desk :)

The crib that Mom had for us has been recalled so looks like we're going to have to buy a new one.  Mom and Jeff are going to buy it for us!  They are great!!  This is what I'm thinking
We got some other gifts too!  Mom gave my her kiddie pool that she had for Christina's kids.  I plan on using it many times this summer ;)  She also bought the little one a little blanket that has a smiley face on the corner to play peak-a-boo with!  Jane gave us a baby tub filled with all kinds of goodies!  Also, there was a product sale a GEICO and my friend Amy bought the baby a GEICO onesie and floppy hat.  Too cute!   My baby sure is going to be loved :)

We got to spend some time with friends who we haven't seen for awhile which was great.  I miss my friends and my family that lives down there.  I really wish I got to go down more.  I"m sure I'll be making more trips down to show off my baby once s/he gets here!  God knows my mom will want to see the newest grandchild
as much as possible!

That's about it for around here.  I'll try to be better about my posts.  Last buy not least, here's a belly pic :)

26 weeks 3 days
(it looks like its not getting bigger but I think its b/c this is a maternity shirt unlike the others)
